Certified Carbon Offset Participant

I was a backpacker in my youth. Hiking the trails of the Great Smokey Mountains, I learned the backpacker's motto, "Take nothing but pictures, leave nothing but footprints."

As a professional photographer, I've done plenty of the former. It's the latter which has been more of a challenge.

In going digital nine years ago, I eliminated film - and its associated pollutants - from my workflow. That was a biggie. I also recycle and conserve in an effort to make my work more consistent with the principles of sustainable design.

My most recent change was prompted by a trade association to which I belong, AIGA (the American Institute of Graphic Arts). AIGA's Center for Sustainable Design has a unique carbon offset program called CarbonCool. I'm happy to report that Andrew Child Photography is now a certified AIGA CarbonCool participant and one step closer to the goal of leaving nothing but footprints.
